Abstract

In this paper a single stage, single phase transformer-less inverter with zero leakage current is proposed for grid connected systems with PV as a source. The proposed inverter has inherent buck-boost capability and also has common ground between the negative terminal of the PV array and the grid neutral. This ensures low dc input voltage and zero leakage current through the parasitic capacitance of the PV array. The modes of operation of the inverter, its design and the simulation results are presented in detail. Losses and efficiency of the proposed inverter are compared with the existing transformer-less topologies and results are presented. Experimental validation is done and the results are included.
