Abstract

Geodetic observations of crustal deformation in an earthquake prone region are important from the seismic hazards point of view. Levelling observations at six epochs along the Saharanpur – Dehra Dun – Mussoorie highway are now available in the literature. It transpires from the data that, over the Fatchpur to Rajpur segment of the leveling line, ground points which were elevated during the 1905 Kangra earthquake have started to subside. This supports the view that processes of great earthquakes in the Dehra Dun Himalaya are cyclic in time.
