Abstract

Zr based bulk metallic glasses with unusual combination of properties are deemed to be potential materials for nuclear applications. Glass forming composition in Zr rich Zr-Cu-Al-Ni quaternary system has been predicted using thermodynamic and topological parameter PHS. Model composition with most negative PHS value obtained using weighing approach closely matches with available experimental composition suggesting that the present approach can be successfully used to predict bulk metallic glass forming composition.
