Abstract

In this paper, a variable step size filtered X-least mean fourth (FX-LMF) algorithm is proposed for a single-stage three-phase grid tied solar energy conversion system with active shunt filter capabilities. It consists of a SPV (Solar Photovoltaic) array, a voltage source converter, a three-phase grid and connected linear and nonlinear loads. The proposed algorithm helps in faster convergence and it also has less mean square error as compared to fixed step LMF. A prototype of the system is developed and experimental results are obtained while feeding SPV active power to the loads and the grid. The total harmonic distortion of grid current is observed well within the limit of IEEE-519 standard.
