Abstract

A new bridgeless improved power quality based multiple output, cross regulated, high frequency isolated power supply is proposed with power factor correction (PFC) for personal computers (PCs) applications. The design of the proposed power supply is carried out in discontinuous mode of conduction (DCM) to make it simple and compact in size. Two high frequency isolated single ended primary inductance dc-dc converters (SEPIC) are connected opposite to each other eliminating the need for a diode bridge rectifier at the ac mains. This configuration offers nearly sinusoidal ac mains current ensuring high power factor and offers less harmonics distortion even at light load conditions. A set of power quality indices for the proposed bridgeless multiple output cross regulated high frequency isolated power supply is presented to demonstrate the improved performance at full load as well as at light loads.
