Abstract

This paper deals with the improvement of power quality of Induction Generator (IG) based diesel engine (DG) set for small standalone supply systems. A distribution static compensator (DSTATCOM) and a battery energy storage system (BESS) are used to improve the power quality of IG based DG set employing SRF (Synchronous Reference Frame) theory based controller for harmonics elimination, load compensation, load balancing, and voltage regulation. The DSTATCOM used in this DG system consists of a three-leg VSC with a T - transformer for neutral current compensation for unbalanced loads.
