Abstract

The possibility of twinning is examined in three cubic superlattices (such as those of CuZn, Fe3Be, and Ni3Al). In two of these twinning is found possible, and their nature indicates that cubic superlattices that twin do not exhibit the twinning modes of the disordered lattices from which they were formed. It is concluded that superlattices represent new crystal structures that obey distinct criteria.
