Abstract

This paper deals with the design, analysis, simulation and development of a PFC (Power Factor Corrected) multiple output SMPS (Switched Mode Power Supply) using bridgeless buck-boost converter at the front end. Single-phase ac supply is connected to a bridgeless buck-boost converter to eliminate the diode bridge rectifier for reducing the conduction losses associated with the diode bridge and also to improve power quality at front end. The bridgeless buck-boost converter is designed to operate in DCM (Discontinuous Current Mode) for inherent PFC operation and to reduce the complexity in control. The performance of the proposed bridgeless converter based multiple output SMPS is evaluated under varying input voltages and loads to demonstrate its improved performance. The performance of proposed bridgeless multiple output SMPS is simulated in MATLAB/Simulink environment and the obtained simulated results are validated experimentally on a developed hardware to verify the improved power quality.
