Abstract

The results of electrical resistivity ϱ (1.4–300 K), heat capacity C and magnetic susceptibility χ measurements on the alloys, Ce1–xLaxIr2Ge2 are reported. The results establish that CeIr2Ge2 is one of the rare Ce compounds with a Kondo coherence temperature as large as 80 K in the trivalent limit of Ce. Apparently, ϱ exhibits non-Fermi liquid behaviour in the low-temperature ϱ data, though there is no corresponding anomaly in the C data. There is a low-temperature tail in χ which appears to be intrinsic
