Abstract

A single-phase double boost rectifier is proposed for providing direct current (DC) supply for midpoint converter fed SRM (switched reluctance motor) drive. The proposed single-phase double boost rectifier consists of two single-phase boost converters with DC output connected in series to feed midpoint converter fed SRM drive. This system is capable of improving power quality at alternating current (AC) mains and maintains the capacitor voltages constant. The proposed single-phase double boost rectifier fed SRM drive is designed, modelled, and its performance is simulated in MATLAB/Simulink. The performance of proposed drive system is compared with a single-phase diode bridge voltage-doubler fed SRM drive to demonstrate effectiveness of proposed single-phase double boost rectifier for power quality improvements at AC mains.
