Abstract

In this paper, a regulation band based digital voltage control scheme is proposed and key design and implementation fssues are discussed. In the proposed scheme, a hysteretic selector is designed to monitor the DC bus voltage in the voltage feedback path of the converter system. The selector algorithm decides switching between large bandwidth and narrow bandwidth voltage controller in the feedback path depending upon the value of the DC bus voltage to improve the voltage dynamics of the converter. This allows fast voltage response during transient conditions without compromising the quality of the input current during the steady state operation of the converter. The proposed scheme eliminates large overshoots and undershoots in the DC bus voltage during line and load disturbances, which are prevalent in conventional converter systems.
