Abstract

Reactions of [RuH(CO)Cl(EPh3)3] (E = P, As) with 4-cyanopyridine, 1,4-dicyanobenzene, 1,4-dicyanobutene and of [Ru(η5-C5H5)ClL2] [L2 = (PPh3)2, (AsPh3)2, dppe, dppm] with 1,4-dicyanobenzene in the presence of anions like BF4, PF6, BPh4, ClO4, have been carried out. Cyanopyridine containing hydridocarbonyl complexes showed a marked tendency to react with halogenated solvents yielding complexes containing no hydride ions. The cationic mononuclear, binuclear and neutral complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses and spectral (IR, UV—vis, 1H and 13C NMR) studies.
