Abstract

A three-dimensional (3D) metal-organic framework of cadmium(II) oxalate, [Cd(C2O4)2(H2O)](H2O)(H3O)2C2H5OH) 1, has been created by decomposition of pyridine-2,4,6-tricarboxylic acid under solvothermal reaction condition. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis shows that complex 1 self-assembles into a 3D noninterpenetrated diamondoid network with open channels accommodating guest ethanol and water molecules. The thermostability and nitrogen adsorptive property of 1 were investigated.
