Abstract

We show that the state occupation probabilities for a quantum system undergoing oscillation between two of its degenerate states do not depend on the particular choice of the Hamiltonian used to induce the transition as long as the energy fluctuation remains the same. In fact, the occupation probabilities are related to the distance measured by the Fubini-Study metric, which assigns a geometric meaning to them.
