Abstract

We introduce a new model for a closed loop power control system for cellular CDMA communications that transforms the standard closed loop model into an analytically tractable log-linear model. From it, we obtain all first and second order received power statistics. The correlation of the received power offers insight into the burst error nature of the closed loop power control channel and can be used to specify interleaver and coding requirements. The impact of simplification of the model is studied by comparing the analytical results with a detailed simulation of the actual model. We find that the linearized model is more effective in predicting the shape of the correlation function than in predicting the actual magnitudes.
