Abstract

Small angle neutron-scattering and viscosity measurements from 0.1 M CTAC solutions with varying concentrations of KBr (C = 0.0 to 0.1 M) and KCl (C = 0.0-1.0 M) are reported. When compared with similar data on CTAB solutions, these data suggest that the difference in the micellar growths in the above systems is not connected with the common ion effect. It has been found that the inter-micellar interactions in CTAC/KCl and CTAC/KBr are different and that leads to differences in the growth of micelles.
