Abstract

Rayleigh and Brillouin peaks have been observed in neutron scattering by normal fluid 4He at 4.2 K and saturated vapour pressure in the wavevector transfer range from 0.06 Å-1 to 0.2 Å-1. The observations can be described by hydrodynamics, but there is a small discrepancy with the thermodynamic parameters.
