Abstract

Micrometer-scale patterns of eosin and dansyl dyes on hyperbranched poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) organic thin films have been prepared using a combination of photoacid-based lithography and covalent grafting of dye molecules. Reflection infrared spectroscopy, optical microscopy, and fluorescence microscopy indicate that the dyes were attached within the intended regions. Patterned dye features having a spatial resolution as small as 5 μm were prepared.
