Abstract

The scattering of cold neutrons by gaseous methane and ammonia at room temperature has been calculated treating the rotations in a quantum-mechanical fashion. Comparison with the experimental data of Webb shows good agreement at large scattering angles and a small discrepancy at forward angles.
