Abstract

The solid-state exp 13 C n.m.r. spectrum of poly(p-phenylene sulphide) (PPS) was obtained using cross-polarization (CP) and magic angle spinning (MAS) techniques. The two magnetically distinct carbon atoms were easily assigned using an interrupted decoupling experiment. PPS samples of varying degrees of crystallinity were prepared above and below the glass transition temperature T sub g and the corresponding exp 13C CP/MAS n.m.r. spectra were obtained. The line-width of the exp 13 C spectra was found to be a function of crystallinity.
