Abstract

Twenty-two cases of histologically confirmed craniopharyngiomas are presented. Their clinical features are briefly summarised. All had partial decompression by surgery and were subsequently treated by external irradiation on Theratron 60. The results of surgical treatment alone reported in the literature are reviewed and compared with the results of craniopharyngioma treated by surgery and radiotherapy. It is felt that a combination of surgery and radiotherapy offers the best chance for useful survival to patients with craniopharyngioma.
