Abstract

Fine Particle La2CuO4 and La1.8Sr0.2CuO4 have been prepared by a novel combustion method. The method employs an aqueous solution containing the corresponding metal nitrates and tetraformal trisazine mixtures which yields a voluminous oxide when rapidly heated to 350°C. The product on calcination at 550°C for 30 min gives the crystalline phase. Strontium doped lanthanum cuprate, La1.8Sr0.2CuO4 showed zero resistance at 33 K. At finite magnetic fields of 2 and 5 T, Tc shifts to 16 K and 13 K respectively.
