Abstract

Supramolecular assemblies of cyclopentadienone derivative 3 exhibit cyanide induced emission enhancement and undergo modulation of self-assembled structure to generate ‘metal free’ supramolecular porous anionic assemblies. The as prepared anionic assemblies show high sensitivity and selectivity for the detection of picric acid among various nitro-derivatives tested in aqueous media and in vapour phase. Further, due to the porous nature, the anionic ensemble selectively detects cationic dyes such as methylene blue among various dyes tested in aqueous media.
